Sony Europe have altered the stock PS3 boxes to include three free games, which should soon reach platinum selling status, in response to criticism that the console is overpriced for the benefit of the blu-ray player.

Sony PS3 is Region Free

The Sony PlayStation 3 is the first games console sold as region free, meaning that Europe, US, Canada and Japan are not using legacy region formats, as has been the restriction with all other game consoles utilising DVD technology. Before you go charging off to buy one, I'll tell you the PS3 has an in-build universal power supply - to cope with global power supply differences. The external power markings relate to the intended market area. Yes, indeed, the good news, for those of us taking our beloved PS3 on Christmas Holiday is: We can buy and play PlayStation 3 games from anywhere in the world.

PS3 is backwards compatible with PSone & PS2 games. The few playstation games which aren't backwards compatbile is most likely because the publisher did not adhere to Sony's software quality guidelines.

With PS3's technology most gamers will notice improvements in both audio and visual effects when playing PS2 games.

Games: Surprisingly the PlayStation 3 has no new ground breaking games announced. Which could be a big disappointment. The official Sony PS3 website lists a few games: Ridge Racer 7, Sing-star, Resistance: Fall of Man. Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas.

PS3's DVD player: Whilst the PS3 games are not region coded, the movie playback is region coded. This Is Living Tv coming soon!

Check out the PS3 six-axis controller with motion sensors, operating on bluetooth technology. The Dual Shock is not present on the PlayStation 3 controller!
