PS3 Move - Real Life Motion Capture for Gaming

Interactive games and RPGs have had one major barrier that limited their effectiveness in providing a real-world feel to gaming - the characters' movement was limited to what your joystick or keyboard could provide them. Sony's new offering, PS3 Move, tries to solve this problem by making it possible to capture the player's movement and making it a part of the game. So now you can evade bullets based on your speed and dodging skills. You can interact with your virtual pet, give it a pat, or throw it a biscuit. You can attend virtual parties in person, sit for real on virtual sofas, and enjoy gaming like never before.

While Sony promises that PS3 Move will change the way you play some of your old PS3 favorites, its team is also putting together new games specifically designed for the Move format. Here are some of the games you can play with PS3 Move:

Sports Champions - This game allows you to participate in virtual contests, including archery, soccer, and table tennis. And yes, you need to be actually good at the games to be able to win!

Superstars - Based on the concept of reality TV, this PS3 Move game allows you to participate in virtual TV shows and try and enact the role of a star. Even if no TV station has ever called you back!

Dukes - This one is sure to delight boxers. Show off your knuckle boxing skills in this adrenaline pumping version of the game that sees boxers convert your real-world jabs and hooks into winning plays online.

Move Party - A quirky game that has been developed keeping in mind the concept of socializing via online gaming.

Slider - Be an armchair warrior, punching away to glory as you wile away those boring moments on your office chair or work desk.

How PS3 Move Works

Move comprises a microphone shaped LED mounted accessory that senses the player's movements and feeds. It even provides feedback to the player in form of vibrations or changing LED color. Using this accessory is convenient because of its use of wireless Bluetooth technology. One system can support up to 4 Move controllers.

The PlayStation Eye is a camera that tracks movements and enables voice interactivity on games. It enables 6 people to play together, and can work well even when steady lighting is not available. This accessory has built in microphones. An added advantage is the Eye Create program, which is available at no extra charge with the kit.

The Move sub controller is designed on the lines of traditional joystick to make the game more interactive and useful for entering commands.

PS3 Move will be launched later this year. The entire kit is expected to cost less than £100 and can be integrated into your existing PS3 120/250 or 320GB systems, or purchased as a special PS3 Slim 320GB Move bundle. You can participate together with your friends and family or look for online buddies to play with. Enjoy gaming like never before.
