Call of Duty - World at War by Jean-Alexandre: 05-02-2009 09:32:45

Call of Duty: World at War Game (Xbox 360, PS3)

If the decision of Infinity Ward to abandon the Second World War in favor of a fictional modern conflict had opened new horizons in the studio creator of the Call of Duty series, we are still surprised by the choice made by Activision and Treyarch return to this historical context yet seen and reviewed, a choice that puts them over the inevitable taste of warmed many sequences. Respecting the code of the series, World at War takes two different points of view in his solo campaign. We have therefore a later adventures Miller soldier lost in the Pacific and Dimitri from the fall of Stalingrad to the capture of Berlin. Each other, these two brave boys will live war; we alternate between the two of them. If this new component generally does not radically with other episodes in which he took many tricks, one can already note the change of tone for World at War which is decidedly rawer and less timid in its approach to the war. We see from the intro sequence that takes place in a Japanese prison camp in the middle a torture session, and then in violent fighting that leaves shredded bodies on the battlefield. Later, in the destiny of Dimitri will speak this violence, a soldier with orders of an officer-loving fanatic revenge that never ceases to encourage his troops to massacre, loot and burn Germany.

Treyarch takes the Modern Warfare engine, but the demonstration is a bit less bright side staging and animations. However, the record does not lack pace and rate of frames per second never loses its breath even in the scenes more stirring. Very accessible, the ownership and not surprisingly, the gameplay is well established. The reason is that World at War looks like a bunch of what was already seen in the series. Treyarch damages sometimes have difficulty in ensuring the level of immersion despite some scenes very successful.

Allow 5 to 7 hours to finish the solo mode at the chosen difficulty. The co-op mode is a more attractive valuation and solo Nazi Zombie is fun. Remain multi that takes as CoD 4 but that does not unanimously. For once, Treyarch surprises us with a soundtrack that is not limited to the usual symphonic themes endless games inspired by the Second War. If they are present, they will be supported by more modern sounds, electronic and flirting with metal riffs. The worst is that it works quite well. The dubbing is excellent and the sound effects are not left behind.

Call of Duty World at War: second world war

The Second World War was not a very fertile ground for storytelling and here we find the old through the series with its missions, which are somewhat artificially, with the red wire to a world situation which we find hard to stick. Again, we see as the choice of a fictional conflict could be useful. In addition, the setting hardly surprises relying too much on the achievements of previous episodes.
Call of Duty World at War: guns

This return to the atmosphere of the classic Call of Duty series made by Treyarch sounds like a compilation of what was already seen in the older parts but still manages to seduce the particular choice of a ton less politically correct and who has most to fear the violence of war. We regret, however, that the studio had difficulty disguising the scripts that abuse and can be frustrating or even whether they use a trick that also gross recurrence of endless enemies. Nevertheless, the "Interim studio" series is doing well and those who expected a return to find what they're looking for, neither more nor less.
